I want to schedule a session. How soon should I contact you?
In order for each client to have the best unique experience, I strictly limit sessions number a month. I am generally booked a few weeks in advance. The holiday season (September-December) is exceptionally busy for photographers and I usually start holiday bookings in the middle of summer.
When to schedule a newborn session?
If you love the curled-up look in my newborn photography, the best time to achieve it is during the first ten days of your baby’s life. It’s great when I am contacted as early as possible to book a session. When baby is born, most of my clients call me from the hospital to set up a time for the session. But if your baby is already born, please call me ASAP and I will try to accommodate your needs. And trust me, you do want to capture those memories. I hear from all my clients how their baby has grown and changed in just one week – but they have those fresh portraits to hold on to.
I want a traditional portrait.
While I will take a few “posed” shots, most of your pictures will be in a more candid style. A session usually does not go well when children are told to sit still and smile. My goal is to capture your children being themselves with raw emotions – laughter, joy, wonder… I won’t make them say “CHEESE!” and if they don’t want to smile or look at me, that is totally fine! I want to capture your children the way they are right now – totally real, sweet, maybe shy, but not fake. I usually give some directions what to do – play, hug, kiss, sing, run – and it always evolves into a very personal and unique experience.
Could we have pictures taken at my favorite spot?
I’m always looking for new and fresh places to photograph, especially if they are unique and meaningful to you! Please, let me know where it is and if it’s your private property or public place (those may require additional permits or fees), and we will make it happen.
Do I really have to think about outfits for pictures?
Absolutely! Unless it’s a newborn session, then no clothing is needed![]()
Clothing plays an important role in custom photography as they represent who you are. The clothing you choose should reflect your style – your typical style or more casual or trendy version of that – and compliment the environment of the session. Layered clothing and personal accessories make images look unique and fun. When dressing an entire family or a few siblings, wardrobe should color coordinate, but not match precisely. I encourage you to bring changes of clothes to the session – we can change as many times as you like.
If your outfit requires silk stockings, you may be a little bit overdressed for the session with me![]()
Why am I going to see only 25 proofs from our session?
While I take a lot of shots during the session, I only choose the very best to post process and share with my clients. Only images that shows you at the best angle and expression, as well as meet my artistic and quality standards will be in your gallery.
Will I see all my images in color and black and white?
I am known for a great color in my images, but I will always include a few black and white if I feel an image asks for it.
How much should I plan to spend on my portraits?
Custom photography is more of a luxury than your entry level cookie cutter chain experience. It’s truly not for everyone, it requires a level of commitment, investment in time and money, forethought and planning on the part of the subject/client and requires a larger time commitment for the photographer as well. Typically, my clients invest anywhere from $1000 to $3000. Such investment allows them to own all of the images from their session in a custom made album, session box or digitally as well as large wall portraits of their very favorite images. How long will it take to get my prints?
Your prints will be available in approximately 2-3 weeks after your payment has cleared. Custom design and specialty items may require additional time. Depending on your order, you may pick it up, have it shipped, or hand-delivered to your home or mutually agreed location.
NOTE: during holiday rush (September through December) orders may take an additional 1-2 weeks for delivery.
In person ordering session – what is that?
Once your proofs are ready, you have an option to view and order online. Or to schedule a meeting at your house to view those proofs in person. We’ll look around your house for places you might want to hang your portraits and together we will group, arrange and plan your display. You will be able to see all the product samples, choose designs and layouts.
WOW, you are offering some huge sizes for prints!
It’s a stereotype that comes from chain studios an 8×10 to be a “big” print, but in reality it seems very small on a wall. For any print you wish to hang, I recommend at least 16×20 or larger. That’s the way to display your gorgeous custom photography portraits! 8×10 and smaller are best when framed as desk prints.
I am going to scan my prints, so I can share pictures online with my friends and family. And maybe even surprise them with a nice Christmas card
According to U.S. Copyright Law, October 2007, Lina Jarmond Photography retains copyright on all images (including those on CD). Yes, the children are yours, but copyright of the images stays with an artist. Reproduction, alteration, distribution, or publication of the images from the session in any form including, but not limited to scanning, downloading, emailing, facebook, myspace, or any website publication, without obtaining permission via a full copyright release is an illegal copyright infringement and punishable according to the law. Additionally, my work represents my style as a photographer, and my reputation and livelihood depends on producing beautiful images. Thank you for understanding (and not breaking the law).
So, if I want to have my pictures from the session on my computer, can I get them?
Digital negatives of your session are available for purchase. I sell them individually as well as the entire session. It includes a print release, helpful tips for care and recommendation for a semi-professional printing lab.
Can I refer my friend to you?
It is a tremendous compliment if you refer me to your friends, neighbors, family and co-workers. And the majority of my customers hear about me through your stellar recommendations. As a thank you to you, for each referred new client that books and finishes a session with me, I will reward you with a $50 print credit to be applied toward your future sessions.
I love your work, but I live in San Jose, do you ever come this way?
I offer travel sessions anywhere in the country, or the world. It is great when there are a few sessions booked together. Please, contact me for more information at 919.341.9294 or info@linajarmond.com
