One of the fun things I got to do last year in the midst of my busy season was to get my family photographed. I am trying really hard not to fall into “the son of the shoemaker has no shoes” category. It was not a planned family session, rather lucky coincidence that a great pet & people photographer Melisa Palomo was visiting North Carolina shortly after we got Ocean. I really really wanted Melissa to get a few images of our then itty-bitty puppy, and it just happened that my husband was home – so we all jumped in front of her camera. The pictures are now hanging in our guestroom, and I know they make all our guests smile. This time I opted for more traditional frames with glass. The modern twist on them – they are all squares with 5×7 cut-outs for images. Regardless if the image is vertical or horizontal, the same frame works! You can find them at West Elm.

As I wrapped up and delivered the last Holiday order, I want to take a moment to share my sincere thanks for all the business that came my way. What a wonderful Year 2011 has been and it’s all because of you. So thank you for helping me to be successful! Thank you for challenging me to be the very best I can be. Looking ahead to the Year 2012, I am anxious and excited for the opportunities that will come my way and for everything I will do to exceed your expectations in every way.

back to school

When children come home at the end of the day,
The question they’re asked as they scurry to play
is, “Tell me what you did today?”
And the answer they give makes you sigh with dismay.
“Nothing, I did nothing today!”
Perhaps nothing means that I played with blocks,
Or counted to ten, or sorted some rocks.
Maybe I painted a picture of red and blue
Or heard a story of a mouse that flew.
Maybe I watched the gerbils eat today,
Or went outside on the swings to play.
Maybe today was the very first time
That my scissors followed a very straight line
Maybe I lead a song from beginning to end,
Or played with a special brand new friend.
When you’re in school
And your heart has wings,
“Nothing” can mean so many things!!

I hope you all had a pleasant morning – first day of school can be stressful!

Beach, beach and more beach

I just had a fun week at Myrtle Beach with a bunch of beautiful families – weather was perfect for spring break and photos! If you think you will want your spring break next year to spend at Myrtle Beach, we can start planning now! Just email me at lina.jarmond@gmail.com and I will put you on the remainder list.

Summer 2011 beach sessions dates and locations details are finalized, and here they are:

June 10th through 16th at Outerbanks, NC
September 2 through 5th (Labor Day weekend) in Topsail Island, NC

I already have at least one booking for each location. If you want a session at the beach, please email me to reserve your time.

Meanwhile, here are a few images of my daughter. I recently re-did my bedroom, and I wanted some images with yellow in it for my walls (I know what you thinking… ) Just a dash of yellow as a stripey scarf made those shots exactly what I wanted. And Oreo cake as a form of payment to my model was so worth it!

where did the time go? | Raleigh Children Photographer

November is a crazy month is our family. Birthdays, anniversaries, and of course Thanksgiving. I am a bit rough this morning – 9 kids for a sleepover to celebrate Tiera’s 8th birthday. But just knowing she is having the time of her life is an amazing feeling – all her best friends, local and not, came to hang out, eat cake, and stay up till wee hour.

For me, however, is a totally different story – feeling a bit sad. Where did the time go?

And a big big hug and a huge thank you to my uber-talented friend Monika who made a cake of Tiera’s dreams! *thank you*

Back to school | Raleigh Photographer

Vacation is over, and reality hit me really fast and really hard. We returned home about 24hours before the new school year started – it was a hectic day! I am glad to finally have most things under control and sit down at my computer, catch up on emails and phone calls, start preparing viewing galleries for clients who got photographed before my vacation. A few fresh babies arrived while I was gone, and I got to meet couple of them. I missed freshness!

I am also working on Christmas mini sessions, and will announce date and place soon – I hope to see all those newborns I got to photograph all grown up and sitting up

And here are my two all ready for 1st and 2nd grade – time sure flies by!
