preschool project take two

Couple years ago I was contacted by a local Montessori preschool to participate in their fall fundraiser. It was a scary thought – almost hundred children I’ve never met to photograph as happy souls in just couple minutes time for each child. But it was a blast! I was very glad to be invited again, and guess what – we almost doubled the proceeds for preschool! I was so excited – many parents wanted to bring their older/younger children for pictures, they were planning Christmas gifts around my images, I was asked to never stop coming back… Oh, such warm memories and acceptance.

Did you know fall is portrait photographers busiest season of the year? I have more than 15 sessions to blog, might never happen! But the fun I had seeing old clients and meeting new is just irreplaceable – I had a fantastic weekend! It started with my own family’s session. Ohh ahhh – you may get finally to meet Ocean and see her face, she was the best behaved family member at the session. And then Saturday and Sunday was filled with my favorite returning clients. Oh, how much I love seeing those babies grow! But after a chasing them, I feel like I ran a marathon (distance wise, I probably did ) My body hurts and I am so tired, but it’s good tired. I keep telling myself I don’t get to see them too often, so just enjoy the moment! And I did!

So while I am working on their images and holiday cards, here is a share from a session this summer. Beautiful family! The mom runs children’s books recommendation place, check it out HERE!

And since I remember to snap a few quick shots of couple items from their order, I will include them here. Little miss princess will enjoy a custom framed print of mommy and her.

And all family images ended up in a beautiful custom 10×10 album. Classic piece!

Fall is the best. Not because of the chilly crisp air and pumpkin spice latte. But because all the newborns returning back to me for their first, or second, or even third Holiday close up. Remember dancing toes newborn post? He is all grown up now, approaching his first birthday. And his parents from a world class ballroom dancers becoming a world class singers and clappers

While a few classic posed shots are fun, I love capturing love and kisses, just let parents forget about me and have fun with their baby.

Remember, how last year I was pushing every single one of you, moms, in front of my camera even for one shot? Just one! And that shot usually ended up being your absolute favorite that brought tears to your eyes. I am still on a mission to get an image of every mom with her child. Even if you don’t feel like it, or your hair is not done, or lacking make up, or you wore a wrong shirt… Regardless of it all, that ONE image will be the most treasured memory for years and years to come.

But there is one mom who does not need to be told twice to step into a picture All her baby snuggles are being documented throughout her baby girls first year of life. And further out for years to come, I am sure.

We had this wonderful session planned for the beach back in April (yes, I am that behind sharing stuff on my blog), however, the mother nature had something else in mind. So we finished the session back in Triangle. I love seeing miss Ella – she is one of the most laid back baby girls, joy to play with And she has grown so much since her last session.

It was May 21st, 2011. Allegedly, it was the last day of Earth and its existence. In reality, it was the very happy first birthday of mister A. I could not believe how much he’s changed since his newborn session. I love seeing my newborns a year later and document the changes. Such an honor! But things don’t always go as smooth as it seems. We met at a local park just at sunrise. Guess what? Park gates were locked! The good thing about relaxed parents is that they just go with a flow. And we shot series of beautiful nature images right at the entrance gate of the park. Sun was just peeking through trees and gave us this gorgeous glow. You have to make the best out of the situation, right

We had way too many beautiful shots, I am sharing just a few. Hopefully in the nearest future I will be sharing images of their beautiful home. There is a touch of Lina Jarmond Photography in every corner of the house, and let me tell you – it looks amazing!

Have you ever thought what the word “photography” means? It is based on the Greek φῶς (photos) “light” and γραφή (graphé) “drawing”, together meaning “drawing with light“. So before a nice outfit, a beautiful location, a cute smile, there is one single most important aspect to a stunning photograph – in the photographer’s ability to see and determine the ultimately best lighting conditions. You would not want your seamstress to make you a bikini out of upholstery fabric, would you? Or your stylist cutting your hair with pruning shears? Sounds kinda funny That’s why I never shoot my outdoors sessions more than couple hours within the sunrise or sunset. The higher the sun, the harsher the light, and the final product will never be what you anticipated. Therefore, my clients always find the way to prepare their children for those golden light hours – early nap or earlier/later bedtime couple days in a row before our session to re-adjust child’s mood. It is well worth the extra effort for stunning, soft, flattering natural light to compliment your child’s and family’s beauty and closeness. In the end, the final result is more than the mom could ever ask for!

And here is a great example. Little R. is 9months old, and cute as ever at 6pm to 7pm session! From smiles to “thinker” face, he gave it all during the session in a beautiful flower field. Remember his beautiful mamma-to-be in a mini skirt that she also wore again just days after her son was born ? Her little boy is growing up!

We already have the plans laid out for his one year old session, but for now enjoy beautiful golden light in R. 9 months photographs!
